I don’t know why I wanted to try my hand at homemade hot chocolate mix, but once the idea was implanted, I had to give it a whirl. I wanted something that didn’t use powdered milk as most people make hot chocolate with hot milk already.
This made amazing hot chocolate, and although the Hubby loves anything chocolate, he commented a couple times how yummy it was. I used a cup of milk (per cup) and topped it off with hot water. Though the space left in the cup could be filled with big fluffy marshmallows!
Note that I used 1/4 cup of Valrhona 100% and 1/4 cup of Fry’s cocoa. This gave a rich dark flavour, without being bitter in any way. Feel free to use whatever cocoa powder, or mix of, that you desire! Note that for the chopped chocolate I found chocolate chips do not get broken down in the food processor. All I ended up with, was a bunch of cocoa coated chocolate chips. I ended up using an 85% Lindt bar and it not only keeps the dark chocolate flavour of the hot chocolate, but melted perfectly into the milk.
