Today was a really good day. The kind that ends up in a great meal with a friend. The place we ended up at was picked randomly. After walking around Granville Island, tasting saki, whisky, vodka and wandering the market isles, it took a bit of time to finally decide that we wanted sushi. So after trying one location and find it absolutely packed, we walked around the corner for another.

It too was packed. Which is always a good sign. It was only about a 20 minute wait, so not too bad for 6:30 on a Saturday.

And it was worth the wait! We will definitely be going back. Oh, I suppose I should tell you where it is… its a tiny little place called Sushi Nanaimo (350 Nanaimo St).

It looks like its very popular and for a very good reason. The food was amazing and I think probably one of my top 5 now. We had a slab of tuna tataki that was my favourite. Amazing light seasoning and so fresh. The shrimp tempura had to be twice the usual size, crisp and light. The spicy tuna sashimi had the perfect kick and was enough to feed 4.

Definitely a recommend for anyone who loves sushi, sashimi, and tasty Japanese cuisine.
