We went out for dinner last night with some friends and while perusing the drink menu, a friend told us about the wonders of a French 75. Now I’m not a huge gin fan to begin with (I prefer vodka), but she commented on how good this drink was. It doesn’t have that much gin in it, being basically a gin mimosa. So I took the plunge, ordered one, drank one, and was an instant convert. I think I like French 75’s because I love sour drinks. Whisky sours, gimlet martini’s, lemonade, you get the idea. With the dry champagne, the shot of lemon juice, and the hint of gin, this definitely falls into the sour, tart, yet juicy category.
Very easy to make, and by using a dry brut and fresh lemon juice it enhances the sour in an addicting way. To keep it low carb, I just used Splenda. Feel free to use regular sugar if desired.
