Hey there! My name is Rose, and I have a passion for cooking and have taken Julia Child’s quote to heart! She is my cooking inspiration and one of my favourite people. I’ve learned that when I make mistakes or a recipe fails, I should try it again and learn from it. Just like Julia! I’m definitely not a pro chef or blogger — this little corner of the internet is mostly where I stash my favourite recipes so I don’t lose them. You might notice I don’t always include things like exact equipment, nutrition info, or how many servings a recipe makes. I’m just here sharing the dishes I love (and that friends and family have approved!), and I do my best to keep things clear and mistake-free.
I have a wide selection of recipes, from sweet to savoury, from breads to drinks, simple to complex. I like to try different cuisines and have a spattering of Indian, Asian, and Italian recipes, alongside simple comfort dishes.
I always list every ingredient I use — nothing gets left out on purpose. But if you ever spot something that feels off, like a whole cup of salt where sugar should be, please drop a comment and let me know! I check comments every few months and really appreciate the help in keeping things accurate.
I have compiled all of the recipes on this site and an assortment of my mother-in-law’s recipes into one cookbook. She was a phenomenal baker, and her pies and cakes always left you wanting another piece. I still dream of her poppyseed chiffon cake (found under Cakes and Pies) to this day. In fact, I love the cake so much, it starts off all the recipes in the cookbook, and who doesn’t mind having dessert first? I haven’t made or tried any desserts that contain raisins, because both the Hubby and I detest raisins. The same goes for anything with maraschino cherries.
Happy baking and cooking, and thank you for stopping by!
