1/2ouncesimple syrup*
apple slicessliced thinly
lime slices
fresh lime juice
2ouncesbourbon
apple cider
Instructions
Place 4 to 5 fresh mint sprig leaves, a couple apple slices, a couple lime slices, and 1/2 ounce simple syrup into a tall glass. Muddle well to dissolve the sugar and release the oil and aroma of the mint and apples.
Add 2 ounces of bourbon and 1/2 ounce of lime juice. Fill the glass with crushed ice and top off with the cider, stirring well until the glass becomes frosty. (Add more simple syrup if a bit too tart for your taste.)
Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and apple slices and serve.
Notes
* To make a simple syrup, use equal amounts of sugar and water (or to make it extra special unsweetened apple juice instead of water or pulp some apple and simmer with the water and sugar to infuse it with apple flavour.)
