I have made these for my dentist, family, coworkers, and for my sisters&#8217; catered <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #008080;\" href=\"https:\/\/cookingislikelove.com\/wp\/catering-birthday-party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bbq<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. A hit <em><strong>every<\/strong><\/em> time. The thing that makes these cupcakes is the booze. Kirsch is THE ingredient to have in a black forest cake and is definitely a must to get that perfect flavour. Paired with the fluffy white pudding icing, they have a perfect balance of sweetness from the chocolate, a wee tart bite from the cherries, an extra kick of cherry from the Kirsch and the smooth and light icing.<\/p>\n<p>I also cheated (shhh, no comments from the peanut gallery) and used a boxed mix. I know. I&#8217;m sorry. But when you&#8217;re pushed for time, sometimes its the quickest way. And frankly some of the dark chocolate mixes out there are freakin&#8217; awesome.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cookingislikelove.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/blackforestcc.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2242 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cookingislikelove.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/blackforestcc.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"482\" height=\"482\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cookingislikelove.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/blackforestcc.png 2000w, https:\/\/cookingislikelove.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/blackforestcc-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/cookingislikelove.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/blackforestcc-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/cookingislikelove.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/blackforestcc-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/cookingislikelove.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/blackforestcc-1024x1024.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 482px) 100vw, 482px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #008080;\">BLACK FOREST CUPCAKES<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Prepare cupcakes as per the box instructions (use a nice dark mix, say german chocolate cake or devils), replacing some of the liquid with kirsch. For a recipe that calls for \u00a01 1\/4 cups water, I&#8217;d make 1\/2 cup of that Kirsch. Prepare the filling by using a large can of cherry pie filling, mixed with a generous splash of Kirsch. You don&#8217;t want the pie filling too liquid&#8217;y but you want some Kirsch in there for flavouring, so remove some of the cherry liquid.<\/p>\n<p>Once the cupcakes are cooled, you&#8217;ll want to prepare them for filling:<\/p>\n<p>Step 1. Divot a cone-shaped hole with a paring knife, in the cupcake<br \/>\nStep 2. Fill the divot with cherry pie filling, usually 3-4 cherries per cupcake<br \/>\nStep 3. Trim the divot top so its just a flat piece and place on top of filling<br \/>\nStep 4. Ice and sprinkle chocolate shavings on top (I like to use <span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><strong><a title=\"Icing\" href=\"https:\/\/cookingislikelove.com\/wp\/?p=222\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fluffy Pudding Icing<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>that also has a splash of Kirsch in it)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cookingislikelove.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/cupcake14.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1330 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cookingislikelove.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/cupcake14.jpg\" alt=\"cupcake14\" width=\"887\" height=\"387\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cookingislikelove.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/cupcake14.jpg 887w, https:\/\/cookingislikelove.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/cupcake14-300x131.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 887px) 100vw, 887px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everyone I&#8217;ve made these for, loves black forest cupcakes.
