This marinara sauce is a super quick sauce to whip together and I used as a dip for pizza bites and the next day for chicken parmesan. It’s so fresh tasting and one of the Hubby’s favourites.

Its quite like a puttanesca sauce with the caper berries and you could easily substitute olives and add herbs of your choice.

Marinara Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 cups strained tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chopped oregano
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons chopped caper berries
  • 1 whole Thai chili pepper
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepot and bring to a simmer. Simmer for just a minute then remove from heat.
